Brit is grateful to have found work that she loves in the mental health and wellness field. She lives in downtown Raleigh with her amazing partner and loves biking around to explore the city. If you see her in Raleigh, you will observe some combination of craft beer, seafood, live music, and/or yoga.

Mental Health Experience

Originally from Pennsylvania, Brit is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LCMHCA). She works with individuals and couples to enhance self-awareness, self-compassion, and quality of life.

Her main therapeutic strategies are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and positive psychology. She believes that a mind that can learn to be more mindful, understanding, and positive is a mind that can overcome anything. Further, she works with people to build resilience and overcome stressors in order to feel lighter and happier. Every life comes with hardship, but it’s her mission to help others’ embrace the difficulties in order to find opportunity and growth.

Fitness Experience

While she more recently became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, she has a more extensive background in fitness, fitness education, leadership and mentoring. She is a certified ACE Health Coach and ACSM Exercise Physiologist.

Along her career, she has taught a wide variety of group fitness classes including yoga, pilates, strength training, kickboxing, and indoor cycling. Working as a Fitness Coordinator for NC State University and National Presenter for NETA, she travelled and trained fitness professionals for six years. Currently, she is a Master Instructor at Flywheel Sports in Raleigh, NC. In addition, she is the co-founder of Raleigh Group Fitness, which is a community organization created to connect people through movement opportunities in Raleigh and the surrounding area. (Raleigh Group Fitness was acquired by Offline Media in January 2020).

Her main mission is to encourage movement for wellness and not for weight loss. She is a Health at Every Size (HAES) advocate and works to educate the community on the benefits behind HAES principles and the detrimental effects from diet culture.

Integrating Mental Health + Fitness

Brit is passionate about integrating mental health and fitness services when working with clients. She is starting a wellness center with her partner, Nathan Williams, to do just that. Current Wellness, aka “The Current” is opening in early 2020 in downtown Raleigh.”The Current” is a space to activate inclusive wellness for mind, body and community.
